Southern Derbyshire Dales Car Scheme

Do you find it hard to get to and from the Doctor’s, Health Centre, Hospital or other medically related appointments? Then we may be able to help you.

Our friendly and reliable drivers help many elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in and around Ashbourne, Wirksworth and the Southern Derbyshire Dales. Whilst we are mainly focussed on transporting patients, we are sometimes able to help take people to visit close relatives in hospital or residential care, or to provide transport to and from activity classes.

We provide transport 7 days a week but we do require at least 48 hours’ notice of your journey. The office is open 10am-1pm Monday to Friday, but you can leave a message on our answering machine outside these hours and we will get back to you. We do need to ask for a donation towards the cost of providing your transport – we will suggest an amount based upon how far we take you and our driver will give you a receipt for your donation.

We also need volunteer drivers – can you help?

Are you able to use your own car to take elderly and vulnerable people to medical appointments? No salary, but sensible expenses – and the knowledge you are doing something really worthwhile. Some of our drivers help us several times a week, others can only offer a few hours a month. However much time you can offer, we would love to hear from you.

To find out whether we can offer help with your transport needs or for more information on becoming a volunteer driver, call Lynn or Rowena on 01335 344700, email Rowena@vcdd.org.uk – Website: www.vcdd.org.uk

The Car Scheme is operated by Registered Charity No 1098937:
