This map is a very detailed 6 inches to 1 mile scale (see example below) and covers Ashbourne, Mayfield, Clifton and Sturston. It is .bmp file (1,839 Mb) zipped to 495 Kb. This map is a detailed 1 inches to 1 mile scale (see example below) and covers Ashbourne, Mayfield, Clifton and Sturston. It is .bmp file (488 Kb) zipped to 402 Kb. As its got a lot of ink on it, it does not zip very much To download the file click on the sample image below. The map is based on a 1830's ordinance survey with some minor updates over the years - notably the addition of railway lines/stations up to 1884.

You can download a free, non-copyright, 1830 map of Ashbourne. This map is a very very detailed 1 inches to 44 yards scale (see example below) . It is .bmp file (9.1 Mb) zipped to 2.4 Mb. It even shows vegetable plots and individual trees (artistic licence on the part of the draughtsman I'm sure! - never the less its fascinating stuff!)Sorry about the size, but my scanned original is even bigger, I've reduced it to get a compromise between size and legibility.
