The Dovedale Friends of Cancer Research UK Annual Walks.

Alstonefield Village Hall is the venue for this popular event this year.A choice of two friendly walks are offered - approx 3 miles or 6 miles. Walk leaders will be available to guide or detailed notes are offered for those walkers preferring to make their own way. This annual event raises substantial sponsorship for the charity and is also a very sociable event. Whilst many walkers do obtain sponsorship, all walkers are welcome and all we ask for is a small contribution to Cancer Research UK (to include the lunch provided). | July | 3rd July 2010 | Somersal Herbert fete | Somersal Hall, the historic Grade 1 listed former home of the Fitzherbert family is again this years’ venue for the 2010 Somersal Herbert fete. The event is taking place on Saturday 3rd July between 2 and 5pm, when the beautiful gardens will be filled with many stalls and attractions of interest to both children and adults alike. Returning again this year, by popular request, will be Jack with his teddies (do bring your teddies for the ride of his life!). Numerous side shows including a traditional coconut shy, an old style skittles alley and a tombola to name just a few, will give visitors many opportunities to try their hand at winning a prize. There will also be plants for sale, locally made produce and home made cakes.
Visitors will be entertained during the afternoon by Tutbury Swing Band. Home made cakes and teas will be served on the lawns and there will also be a barbecue and a licensed bar available throughout the afternoon. |

This sought after and successful duo will give a special preview of their performance for the 2011 Geneva International Music Festival which includes classical and more contemporary pieces by Mozart, Ibert, Bach, Tarrega, Bartok and Gershwin.
