Jan 11 am - 1st January 2009 Mappleton News Years Day Bridge Jump Watch people paddle down the River Dove, then jump 30 ft into ice cold water and then run to the pub! All in the name of charity!
Feb Tues 24th Feb & Ash Wed 25th Feb 2009 Royal Shrovetide Football Shrove Tuesday /Ash Wednesday EVERY YEAR - kick off 2 pm each day in the Shawcroft Carpark (behind the supermarkets in the town centre) (Shrove 4 !!) (If I had 10 bob for every email I get asking "when is Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday" - I'd have £ 3. heathens!, they'll be asking when is Christmas next!!)

April Sat 18th 10-12 Save the Children's coffee morning Ashbourne branch of Save the Children's coffee morning.  Sat 18th April 2009, 10.00-12.00, admission £1.00 (which includes refreshments) Bring and Buy, cakes, plants and games.

May 2009 Dove Dale Fete 12 Noon onwards - A very popular annual event held in the picturesque village of Ilam. Traditional village fete - cakes, stalls, entertainments, maypole dancing, morris men, fair, rides etc. etc. Ample parking
Sat 9th May 2009 Sponsored Carsington Water Walk

in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The walk starts at 10am and is a 8 mile walk.  To register people need to visit www.macmillan.org.uk /walking or call Amy on 01246 810301

Somersal Herbert Fete At Somersal Hall - Traditional country Fete sideshows, stall, live music!+ barbacue and bar.

Dovedale Sheepdog Trials

Held over 3 days in fields at Blore, by the Ilam turn off.

Annual event.Watch sheepdogs and handlers competing in a "One Man and His Dog" style competition. Home-made refreshments available.

Ashbourne Agricultural Show

An agricultural and country show with entertainment and interest for all the family whatever age.  Classes for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, shires.  Dog show and cage bird show. Handicraft and Horticulture competitions.Over 100 trade stands, craft marquee and food hall.  Rural crafts display area

Full programme of event in the main ring throughout the day.

The Polo Ground, Osmaston, Ashbourne, Derbyshire situated in the village 3/4 mile off A52 Derby to Ashbourne

Gates open at 9.00 am prices adults £7.00, OAP £5.50, Children £3.50 and under 5's are free.Parking is free and there is a free bus running regularly from Ashbourne Town centre, via Old Derby Road and Peak Gateway Caravan Site.

August 2009 Chatsworth County Fair The Country Fair is held in Chatsworth park and attracts large crowds from all over the country. Massed pipe and military bands, demonstrations and parades, hot air balloons, parachuting and over 300 varied trade stands and rural crafts make this a spectacular event.
August 2009 Antiques in the Street Ashbourne Antiques in the Street on Sunday 31st August at 10.00am to 4pm with official opening at 10.00am by Charles Hanson (auctioneer at Hanson's and on Bargain Hunt). Roads will be closed from 5.00am. 120 stalls will feature in Church Street. Also antique valuations, a vintage clothes parade, vintage vehicles, bands playing, an organ grinder and refreshments including a hog roast in Manion's Yard.

9 am Registration - £ 3.00 entry fee, 11 am start, £ 2 carpark
Nov 2009 Rememberence Sunday parade & service . The Mayor, Councillors, local service, ex-service and other organisations, parade to the memorial gardens to lay Poppy Wreaths on the Annual day of Rememberance

Ashbourne Christmas Late Night Shopping Evenings

FESTIVE FUN NIGHT AND LATE NIGHT SHOPPING. Something for everyone. Children's Lantern Parade at 6.30pm and Navtivity Play in Church St at 7.30pm. Fun Fair, Live Entertainment, Market and Charity Stalls. Shops open until 9pm.

Also many shops opening on Sunday from 2nd Dec.

     
Dec 2009 Carol Singing Join the Mayor and Town Band carol singing around the tree in the Market Place at approximately 8.15pm.
